IS THIS WHO WE ARE?

Hello Luscious, Sarah here.

Last week we had a newsletter all ready to go about the big video shoot we did on January 4, about Mom-mentum, our upcoming group coaching opportunity, and about all that 2021 can and will be. And then the U.S. Capitol was invaded by Americans intent on overturning the results of a free and fair election. It was unlike any other day in our history. Not since 1814, when the British attacked and set fire to the building, has our nation’s Capitol Building been breached.

But this time, the enemy was us.

That day I was in meetings almost back to back. When I’m with clients I don’t check my phone. No email. No news. So by 4:30 that afternoon when I finally came up for air, I literally couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Social media explodes after such dramatic events. Everyone has a hot take.

Some groups passionately exclaim that this isn’t who we are!

Others just as passionately insist that this is exactly who we are!

To me, both of these contradictory statements are true. The United States is incredibly complex, comprised as we are of 50 individual states and over 300 million individual human beings, each of whom carries their own internal complexities.

Like each of us, our country contains brilliance: the fundamentals it was built on, including the founding principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and Emma Lazarus’s words at the base of the Statue of Liberty welcoming the “huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”

But we also have a dark, shadow side. Our country was built on the backs of slaves. We massacred and evicted native populations to claim their resources as our own. And from their labor and on their land we created laws and systems that even centuries later have failed to atone for these original sins.

Light and darkness, love and fear, as human beings we all contain both—and this country does as well.

At Luscious Mother, we endeavor to avoid politics. Our founding principle and passionate purpose is championing Motherhood. Our religion is radical self care. And strong leadership, as well as inspiring and leveling-up through coaching, is our lifestyle.

We don’t claim to have all the answers, but we do have:

Community

Support

Love

Generosity of spirit

Compassion

And whip smart coaches who care deeply about their clients and are intent on seeing mothers across all social and cultural demographics get the support they need to live Luscious lives and raise empowered Luscious children.

We are here for you, Mama, on good days and bad. And last Wednesday was a really bad day. Please share your thoughts, comments, questions, or fears. Or maybe you’d like to share some wins in the face of chaos. That sure would be Luscious.

We want to hear from you and ensure that our community is supported.

See below for more ways we can support you now, in these tumultuous times, and help you see the way to a brighter future for yourself, your family, and our country.

With love and Lusciousness,

Sarah & Anna
